There’s nothing I can say regarding what happened to Japan that hasn’t already been said.

With the exception of how the world is responding in the aftermath.

For the most part, people are doing a great deal to donate everything from money to actual clothing and goods for those who have been without their creature comforts. Charities and the like seem to be getting inundated with phone calls from people expressing an interest to donate in anyway they can. It’s nice to see that.

However, on the other end of the spectrum, I’ve been seeing some Christian extremist propaganda popping up here and there. It started with a video blog of a girl “thanking” god for answering her prayers by way of the multiple disasters that hit the island nation last week.

Then I watched the following video which I thought was kinda cool…

At the time, there was a link directing viewers to a page created by his missionary leader.

The page, although I cannot find it now, quoted a few biblical verses insinuating prophetic foretelling of the tsunami, accompanied by an expression of hope that they might be able to convert “nonbelievers” while they came to offer “relief”.

Call me old fashioned, but I feel that any gift with strings attached, is not a gift at all.
