So, for those of you who don’t catch the fluff pieces that pop up in entertainment news, Katy Perry was a guest on Ses. Street, and thus did a virgin version of “Hot and Cold” to duet with the beloved Elmo.

Naturally, naysayers popped into the picture – especially those who knew she was the “I Kissed A Girl” girl and immediately tried to combat the kid friendly diddy from airing. And naturally, they went with the fact that her dress is “low cut”, and displays her décolletage .

But I might be wrong. I mean, a sex symbol hardly belongs on Sesame Street. Right? It’s not like they ever had someone like Raquel Welch – well known sex symbol of her era – duet “Woman” with Miss Piggy in the 70’s. Oh wait, yeah they did.

Note that Katy’s dress is at least covered by the extension of a transparent tank top, not unlike ice skaters wear. Ice skating with its outfits and their even shorter costume dresses than Katy wears here is deemed acceptable for children to view. Not many parents would send little Tommy out of the room for what looks like a bunch of skin as skaters traipse about the ice with their bums hanging out:

Here, it even appears possible that transparent sleeves continue on down the dress ending at her wrist:

Now, regardless of your age, boobs are boobs. Especially when it comes to Sesame Street. And Raquel rocks hers here with Miss Piggy by her side:

Oh look! Another fun picture still. Note the poster in the background.

I’m not knocking Raquel just as much as I’m not knocking Katy. I’m just saying that merriment and mammaries have gone hand in felt hand as far as Sesame Street is concerned for decades. And while Perry has a fine frame, it’s not like she’s ultra busty here, so funbags are hardly the focus. Between “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin”, I’ve seen more cleavage in cartoons before age ten – and that was apparently all acceptable. So for the critics to chime in on this episode simply because Katy Perry is involved, is simply ridiculous.
