Great.
One more thing that I have to add to my celestial bucket list along with all the other shiz I’m probably never gonna get to witness but totally will drone on about seeing right up until the day I die. But this one I may hafta wait until I actually die to observe in all its beauty. Because you have to be situated somewhere in the heavens (Yes. Presumptuous of me to assume that’s where my post life reservations are located, versus a little further South) in order to see this special wonder on a full spectrum scale.
Behold, a FULL circle rainbow, snapped by NASA:
Am I the only one who didn’t know this was even a thing?
When they took this pic somewhere near Australia (the only way I’d go to that place with their spiders that are as effing big as their iconic opera house would be by floating above, in air), they posted it with the caption which snidely asks, “Have you ever seen an entire rainbow?” the same way snotty bishes in middle school ask other girls about latest trends to gauge whether they’re worthy of being in their clique or just worthy of being crucified on social media. No, you cruel bastard. Because I spend my day hating people from my ass, versus looking over Higg’s creation like you do. So tell me more. Enlighten me on this donut of light I’ll never get to eat with my eyes in real life. Well, what happens with a full circle rainbow is that (if you’re in the air) you can see the whole 360 degrees because there’s no lack of moisture up there like you’d be missing out on further toward the ground. A person standing on earth only gets the halvsies view.
That means that us lowly (literally) ground dwellers will all sooner see mythical Irish hobbits and their gold (though I hear they may switch to silver soon) between the ends of our semi-circled light phenomena, than its conjoined twin. That’s reserved for people like cosmonauts, drones, and the asshole cardinal who keeps banging against my window like a feathered kamikaze alarm clock every damned day. Assuming he’s not colorblind. And can fly that high. So, no, NASA. A lotta us non-tropically situated peons haven’t even seen a double rainbow, much less your majestic capture of this phenomena of aerial awesomery I never knew was a thing.
(Anyone else find something sorta absurdly fun about this snap? Maybe it’s that it looks like a portal arch style entrance to a magic pony care bear kingdom – randomly manifesting itself during a super masculine sporting event?)
But I have a question for you, space man.
Have you ever see a rainbow trout? In the clouds?
Like I did last week?
Yeah.
That’s what I thought.
Go fish, starfcckers.
