As the shooting pain in my back jerked me into unwelcome consciousness this morning, I awoke to see “Freaks & Geeks” on TV. I’ve always kind of liked this show. Franco is an obvious asset, but Judd Apatow is pretty great on all levels when it comes to entertainment.
However, as the first morning birds began to chirp, and I watched one of the “geeks” haphazardly perform a halftime funky chicken dance to the dismay of the dancing cheerleaders, I realized something.
All of the “Freaks” went on to make amazing movies and have successful careers after Freaks & Geeks ended. Seth Rogen has made some hilarious stoner flicks. Jason Segel was phenomenal in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” (which I’ve watched a million times). Even Busey Philips has had a few funny films – even if she was usually just a supporting character. And then, there’s Franco, who we all know has done every type of movie the aforementioned actors have, while also being an artist, producer, director, poet, music, blah blah blah.
So… whatever happened to Lindsey? I don’t think I’ve seen her in anything successful since the show.
My point?
It pays to be one of the bad kids. Quite literally, apparently.
