I’m pretty pleased with my new modcloth purchase!
Classy and clinging in all the right places, this number reminded me of the one Marilyn donned in the bonvoyage scene of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. Naturally, I had to get it, and was glad I did.
With a 5’6″ physique I’d describe as a squooshed hourglass (bit of a bust, wide/bony hipbones, and small waist – but a really high waist). Even with minimal meat, bones are bones, and my hips just jut and topple coffee tables when I walk by. So, you may have to rock the “wardrobe wiggle” if you’ve a shape like mine and you intend to enter this ensemble feet first.
While the fabric is fabulous and pretty good at gripping your girl parts in a classy fashion, we all fall victim to fat days. So, if you suffer a “saddlebag” attack on the day you want to wear this, my suggestion is simple: accessorize and minimize at the same time via styled stockings. It’s the best way to eradicate the rump wriggle at once by holding your jiggle bits high and tight. Some black opaque tights are another retro addition – reminiscent of Edie Sedgwick’s 60’s look.
As for the rack? In this dress, less is best when it comes to the chest. Dial it down and stow the superbras for the evening. For whatever reason, a natural bust just looks more chic.
I might fancy a hint of a higher hem, but I don’t know if the risk of ruining it is worth any sartorial alterations. We’ll see.
Anyway, I’d suggest this dress for sure! It’d be ideal for upcoming holiday soirees if you’re into that kind of a thing. As for me, I’ll likely just take a picture, post it here, and let it gather dust until some unprecedented social yearning stirs deep within me.
Enjoy it if you buy it!
xoxo
