Police broke into a Brooklyn apartment Monday, after reports of a “foul smell”.

No one had been seen the mother or daughter leave or enter for years.

And the daughter refused to let in authorities.

Mmmmyes… You’ve got my attention. Go on…

A 28-year-old woman was sat inside, disheveled, and surrounded by columns of trash like a hoarder’s palace. Oh, yeah. And her dead mama-dukes, too. The lady had been laying beside her dead mother for nights on end for several years – propping the corpse at the kitchen table in the evenings for morbid pre-slumber party suppers.

But even before these Lisa Frankenstein sleepovers, things weren’t super sane.

Back when the mom was still alive and kicking, neighbors said they kept to themselves and they’d even dress the same – long black dresses – the few times they saw them leave home. While very few details about this case have been gathered, the woman shared that she believed her mother had “left her there to die” and was thus waiting for her to return – like she had just gotten sick or temporarily was rocking an OBE holiday from her flesh (OMG if OBE holidays were real, I’d book tix yesterday). This, I suppose, was the reason for all those angry self death threats the neighbors would hear her shouting through the walls.

They were emotional blackmail attempts at her caretaker for leaving her.

psychoillness

Ya know, usually I don’t like capitalizing on tales like these.

It’s real life – not a horror story.

And when we think of it that way, it’s actually kind of sad. Not scary. And not gross.

I’m going to go out on a non-decaying limb here and say that this bish was pretty sheltered. She dressed the same as her mom even when she was alive and she left home so little that she literally didn’t know how to handle life on her own after the lady who brought her into this world finally left it without giving her the tools to survive it. Either the girl was sadly born mentally ill which turned into agoraphobia and her mom was trying to help her survive in solitude – or her mama was the sheltering sort of parent who raised her daughter to fear the world, never leave home, and stay with Mother Gothel forever instead.

Not to shame the dead, but where she fell short as a parent was in failing to recognize her own mortality. Did she think she could take care of her kid forever? Ideally, some help at the old hospital would’ve been best. But, if nada else, might she at least have set in place a caretaker to come round and eventually take over if need be?

AKA when she got dead?

So that she wouldn’t play a three-year rendition of Weekend at Bernie’s later?
